Mascom GIFT SMS: Enabling Seamless Communication at Zero Cost for Recipients
Mascom GIFT SMS is a value-added service designed to empower mobile subscribers, ensuring they can stay connected even when they have no airtime balance. This innovative service allows subscribers with sufficient airtime to sponsor a two-way communication seamlessly.
To initiate the process, a subscriber with a minimum airtime balance of P0.50 can send an SMS using the short code 1055, followed by the recipient’s mobile number. The recipient will receive the message along with a notification stating that they can reply to the sender’s message at no cost (e.g., “Reply at No Charge”). This ensures the recipient can respond to the sponsor’s message without incurring any charges.

P0.50 per Gift SMS is charged to the sponsoring customer.
1. Sending the GIFT SMS:
- The sponsoring customer (sender) sends a GIFT SMS to 1055 with the message body containing their intended message.
- Replace “71xxxxxx” with the recipient’s phone number (e.g., 71xxxxxx).
2. Charges:
- Each GIFT SMS costs P0.50.
- Prepaid customers must ensure they have a minimum credit balance of P0.50 to send a GIFT SMS.
3. Recipient Notification:
- The GIFT SMS service will deliver the sender’s message to the recipient’s phone (e.g., 71xxxxxx) with a prefix:
“Reply at NO charge”
This informs the recipient that their response will be free.
4. Reply Window:
- The recipient has 48 hours to respond to the GIFT SMS.
- If the recipient does not reply within this timeframe, the GIFT SMS will expire.
5. Expiry Notification:
- Both the sender and the recipient will receive a notification informing them that the GIFT SMS has expired.
- Terms and conditions apply. E & OE.
- If the recipient does not reply within 48 hours either because the GIFT SMS from Sender will expire and an expiry message notification will be sent to both the sender and the recipient.
