Mascom Batanani Walk 2025 Returns: Stepping in Unity for Breast Health

Mascom Batanani Walk 2025 Returns: Stepping in Unity for Breast Health

Mascom Wireless proudly marked another impactful chapter of the Mascom Batanani Walk 2025 campaign with a vibrant community activation held on Saturday, 5 July 2025 during the BIUST Intervarsity Games in Palapye.

This year’s activation took on a deeper mission with the launch of an on-site breast health screening clinic in collaboration with Journey of Hope Botswana (JOHB). The event is part of a series of lead-up activities ahead of the main walk, scheduled for 9 August 2025 in Francistown.

Screenings That Make a Difference

The activation offered free breast screenings, including palpations and ultrasounds, to both men and women. A total of 76 individuals were screened:

  • 52 women and 24 men received soft breast examinations
  • 8 individuals underwent immediate ultrasound tests
  • 7 females and 1 male were referred for further mammogram screening the following week

This initiative reflects Mascom’s commitment to Mobile Health, one of six pillars in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.

“As Mascom, we are deeply invested in Batanani because it represents more than a walk. It is a channel through which we deliver tangible support and improve people’s lives,” said Ms. Anno Tshipa, Acting Chief Corporate Affairs Officer.

“By bringing breast screenings directly to communities, we help fast-track care, shorten waiting times, and reduce pressure on the public health system. This is our way of walking the talk, both literally and figuratively.”

Next Stop: Letlhakane

Building on the Palapye success, Mascom announces its next activation:
📍 26 July 2025 at Teemane Grounds, Letlhakane
In partnership with Orapa GM’s Walk and JOHB, the event will continue offering free breast screenings to residents of Letlhakane and nearby villages.
