Mascom Wireless CEOs Remarks

Remarks By MRS DZENE MAKHWADE-SEBONI CEO – Mascom Wireless at the Mascom Batanani Walk

09th August 2025

Our 7th edition of this significant and impactful initiative we once again stand firm on our commitment to initiatives that bring a positive impact in the lives of Batswana. The Mascom Batanani Walk has always been about lending a hand and a corporate voice to issues that we see impacting the lives of Batswana every day.

The Mascom Batanani Walk is not just an event or a fitness activity, it is a powerful expression of unity, purpose, and our shared commitment to creating positive change. We have seen the impact we make when we stand together with patrons of this initiative confirming, in fact, that “change starts with each one of us”.

Since 2019, the Mascom Batanani Charity Walk has channeled its proceeds toward raising awareness and driving action on key societal issues. Here in Francistown at Jubilee Mental Hospital stands a refurbished psychiatric ward in response to a call on mental health, and we also landed a hand at the Francistown Centre for the Deaf Education and donated some ICT equipment, Industrial laundry and kitchen equipment and utensils. We have also contributed with Mascom Batanani to the fight against GBV as well as the fight against drugs and substance abuse.

As a digital services provider, our purpose – “powering connections that inspire change” guides everything we do. While we continue to deliver cutting-edge technology and relevant solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers, we are equally committed to using our platform and resources to drive meaningful social impact.

Mascom is proud to be a business and community leader that  recognises the urgent health challenges faced by many Batswana, particularly in accessing timely cancer screening services. This year we walk and step in unity against breast cancer.

Many among us have fought, many of us are walking while fighting this battle. Today we walked in unity and with each step to make a change and to give those of us not able to access essential screening-the first step to a fighting chance.
