Chief Internal Audit and Forensics Officer

We are looking for an exceptional collaborative leader to head our Internal Audit and Forensics function administratively reporting to the CEO and functionally to the Audit and Risk Committee.  In line with the Mascom Governance Framework and Strategy, the incumbent will establish and maintain effective third line assurance department encompassing internal audit and forensic services.

Location: Gaborone, Botswana
Education: Minimum Degree (Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics) and a related post graduate qualification.

Job Summary

The incumbent will provide independent assurance on the internal control environment of Mascom through the implementation of the Internal Audit and Fraud Risk Management Methodologies, systems, tools and best practices. The successful candidate will be required to add value to the business through audit scope development, audit planning and execution as well as recommending and monitoring remedial actions.

 

The role requires the incumbent to be technically skilled and able to conduct breadth of research/analysis across various channels while being up to date with technology developments and next generation trends. The incumbent must have strong aptitude for business and financial analysis, be able to pay attention to detail and sensitive to audience context while thinking both quantitatively and creatively. Furthermore, the candidate must demonstrate success working in fast-paced, highly collaborative team environments and display knowledge of the industry.

Qualifications

      • Minimum Degree (Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics) and a related post graduate qualification.

The role requires a seasoned executive with strong personal leadership, anchored on personal ethics and self-awareness. The incumbent must display the highest level of independence, assertiveness and integrity with an understanding of the technology, business operations and regulatory context as well as vulnerabilities. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical thinking, with exceptional communication skills. To execute on the mandate, the executive must have a passion for people development and drive team engagement, through living the company values.

Job Requirements

  1. Minimum Degree (Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics) and a related post graduate qualification.
  2. Chartered Accountant highly advantageous.
  3. Professional Internal Audit and Forensics qualification such as CIA and ACFE preferred.
  4. Minimum 5 years of Management experience in a medium to large sized organization within a dynamic sector.
  5. Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Internal Audit and Forensics.
  6. Telecommunications industry experience an advantage.
