JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Linux Administrator is responsible for administering and maintaining the organization’s data resources to ensure data availability, integrity, and security, leveraging technological tools to improve systems performance and efficiency.
Key Performance Areas

- System Analysis- Identifies business needs and manages infrastructure support ensuring client requirements are met and exceeded by optimal service delivery. Assists in the design and implementation of new application software in line with business requirements.
- System Administration – Ensures availability and optimal performance of assigned systems. Establishes the needs of users and monitors user access and privileges. Develops and implements backup and recovery strategy for supported systems. Ensures that storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
- Project Management – Participates in cross-functional project teams, working with technical teams, applications developers, and customers from various business units. Ensures technical designs and installations meet the required capacity and performance, per project specifications. Liaises with vendors engaged in assigned company projects, to ensure seamless integration of platforms to new and existing applications.
- Innovation effectiveness – Leverages on technological tools and investigates new opportunities and solutions on a regular basis to ensure optimal performance and efficiency of overall Mascom platforms.
- Quality, Safety & Environment Management- Adheres to the company quality management system. Adheres to the safety, health and environment, standards, policies, and procedures of the Company.
- Governance- Implements and tracks adherence to change management process, incident management process etc. Apprise stakeholders of the progress and manages reporting and metrics tracking. Reviews all information management assets and implements an asset lifecycle management plan to ensure optimal usage of assets and proper disposal. Ensure adherence and compliance to guidelines, SLA & Policy management (recovery time etc.). Manages and ensures risk mitigation, timely management of security risks. Ensures systems are secure and continuously patched and hardened according to adopted security standards
- Budgeting- Contributes to departmental budget planning
- Team supervision- Manages team training and development

- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in IT/Engineering or related field

- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in IT/Engineering or related field
- 5-7 years practical work experience in Linux administration.
