Mascom Joins MMG Khoemacau in New Mine Ground-Breaking Ceremony

Mascom was honoured to attend Khoemacau’s national groundbreaking ceremony this past week, a significant milestone for one of Botswana’s key contributors to economic growth and national development.

The event brought together Khoemacau’s global leadership team, alongside local political, tribal and business community leaders, and was also graced by our CEO, Ms Dzene Makhwade-Seboni, and our Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Mr Shimboy Kgosiemang.

Khoemacau continues to strengthen its footprint within the African Copper Belt, operating an underground shaft mine confirmed to carry high-quality copper and silver deposits. Since commencing operations in 2024, the mine has produced an average of 48,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually.

Beyond mining, Khoemacau remains a valued partner in community impact. Our shared focus on pillars such as Vulnerable Groups and the Environment has seen us collaborate on initiatives like the Mascom 3-For-3 and the Khoemacau Lake Ngami Cycle Classic projects that promote healthy lifestyles while raising funds for community support, reaching communities as far as Shakawe and beyond.
