Mascom’s Smart Classroom Project Initiative Handover

Mascom was in Mmathethe at Ramolefhe Primary School for The Smart Classroom Project Initiative Handover.

The Smart Classroom Project is a flagship initiative under Mascom’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The project is an extension of Mascom’s long standing commitment to Education, and it further responds to his Excellency the President’s call to digitize learning across Botswana. With this project, Mascom aims to revolutionise education in rural communities through the introduction of smart classrooms and STEAM-based learning environments.

In collaboration with the Goodhope District Council through a powerful act of transformation, former outdoor kitchen spaces at Ramolefhe Primary School in Mmathethe have been converted into vibrant, technology-enabled classrooms. The initiative also extends support to Mogwalale, Kannge, and Sekhutlhane Primary Schools, with plans to roll out to additional communities across Botswana.

With the project, Mascom aims to;

• Bridge the digital divide in underserved areas.
• Empower learners and educators with modern tools for teaching and learning.
• Support the national agenda for digitized, inclusive, and future-ready education.

Key Features Include:

• Smart Classroom Setup: Equipped with digital learning tools and interactive technology.
• Steam & Robotics Lab: Code & Go Bot for basic programming and problem-solving. 3D pens for creative design and printing. Brainstorm Master Kit, a locally developed tool promoting hands-on construction and storytelling.
• Structured Curriculum: Step-by-step guides for both teachers and students.
• Sustainable Tech: Rechargeable batteries and shared charging stations for long-term use.

Learners will gain skills in coding, creativity, logical thinking, and early engineering concepts.

Teachers are equipped with innovative teaching aids and training. Communities benefit from improved educational outcomes and digital empowerment.
