International Girls in ICT Day holds a special place in our hearts.
International Girls in ICT Day holds a special place in our hearts as it shines a spotlight on the importance of encouraging girls and young women to pursue careers in technology. It serves as a reminder of the immense potential that lies within each one of US and the transformative impact WE can have in shaping the future of technology and innovation. This year’s theme, “Leadership in STEM,” highlights the critical need for strong female role models in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers.
While women now fill 40% of high-skill occupations globally, their representation in ICT-related fields remains disproportionately low. Women are underrepresented in key areas such as software development, engineering, technology research, academia, and policymaking. The training, led by Basetsana G. Mogotsi , Gorata Tuelo and Kene Dongwana features an all-female team committed to empowering young women in the field of technology.
We’re thrilled to provide this invaluable opportunity to the community, as the long-term benefits of this training extend far beyond the classroom. By equipping girls with essential ICT skills, we’re not only fostering individual growth but also laying the foundation for economic empowerment and societal advancement.
